Clients are encouraged to take every precaution to protect the information they submit and communicate electronically as best practices dictate.
I came across this bulletin from Larimer today and do not recall ever noting the last two points:
“Locator services can mislead you. Never pick an executor based on who addresses the envelope. Services and people advertise “they do searches” and give you specific names and address. Sometimes these are okay; sometimes they entail a lot of noise in journalistic search-type tools. Nevertheless, shopping as an aggregate and using internet search tools before you pay ANY money is always suggested here. NO TRICKS! We work off this for designing a search regularly. It’s like a messy house: sorting out the real work from the cheap pandering. Funny that Larimer gets away with not referencing the sources – other companies’ work product – in that section. Due process in trademark clearance is more than just searching USPTO records or Google. I’ll leave it to my competitors to calculate that area of technical risk.”
Client Cooperation
“Clients are an important first line of defense in safeguarding their own information. We ask that you use secure means in transmitting sensitive documents, protect your log in credentials (if any), and report to us promptly (i.e., keep us promptly informed of) a suspected compromise of your information. If you have any questions as to the best method for transmitting documents or communicating with our firm, please contact us.”
Accessibility Statement
